Joe Allen is the Executive Director of PULSE. After graduating from the College of Wooster, he participated in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Dallas, TX where he worked at Equest which provides therapeutic riding and hippotherapy to special-needs children and adults. He comes to us from Jesuit College Prep in Dallas where he taught service-learning, worked in campus ministry and developed technology solutions for the school. He recently completed a graduate program in pastoral theology at the University of Dallas. Joe brings great enthusiasm to the program and is excited about being here in Pittsburgh, America's "Most Livable City." Allyson McLean is
an intern at PULSE and first-year graduate student at the H. John Heinz
III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon
University (
www.heinz.cmu.edu).
She is working towards her MS in Public Policy and Management, expected
May 2009. During her undergraduate studies in Spanish and Political
Science at Kalamazoo College (
www.kzoo.edu),
Allyson studied abroad in Mexico and Spain, places in which she also
volunteered at local homeless shelters and elementary schools. Allyson
brings experience gained while interning at Focus: HOPE, a civil rights
organization and technology training center for youth in Detroit.
Following receipt of her Bachelor's degree, Allyson worked in Michigan
as a Junior Buyer at Grupo Antolin North America (
www.grupoantolin.com),
a supplier in the automotive industry. She is excited to be part of the
vibrant community in Pittsburgh and contribute to the work being done
